On this day in 2006, Oliver Stone, Val Kilmer, Kyle MacLachlan, and I came together to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Doors film.
Looking back now, I’m especially grateful for the time spent with Val, his portrayal of Jim was so real and committed that it stayed with me long after we wrapped. He brought a real spirit to the role, and I’ll always appreciate what he gave that story.

A few years ago, Micah Nelson (@particlekid) and I performed “Listening Wind” together for “Food For Love” - a virtual concert fundraiser helping to feed New Mexicans facing hunger.
I’m always ready to support a great cause, and this is one of them.

Happy birthday @jimmorrison.
Jim had a way of reaching into the collective soul, pulling out truth, mystery, and music that felt bigger than all of us. I still remember meeting him for the first time, quiet, standing off to the side in Ray’s garage, and then seeing those early lyrics on a wrinkled sheet of paper: day destroys the night, night divides the day… Even then, there was something cosmic in his words.

A fan at the “When You’re Strange”
screening.
On this day in 2013, @officialrobbykrieger and I took the stage at the Bing Theatre with Elvis Mitchell at LACMA for a special evening with Film Independent.
We screened MR. MOJO RISIN’: The Story of L.A. Woman and spent the night celebrating the music that still moves us.

When You’re Strange was always meant to be seen in a dark theater, larger than life, just like the band. @tomdicilloofficial and I talked with Forbes about this new chapter, why the film is finally getting the big-screen moment it deserves, and what it feels like to revisit that era with fresh eyes.
If you want to dig deeper into the story behind the documentary, and why we’re so fired up to share it again, check out the article below.
